MEDIA FEEDBACK

"I need to tell you that I can’t get my arms down. It has been my best safari ever!!! There is no comparison. Wonderful lodges, top of the line. I prefer Rock Lodge over Mountain and Forest. Wonderful staff, accommodating, helpful, friendly, flexible, always smiling. Great guides, I never had better. Excellent nature and an abundance of wildlife. I shot close to a thousand photos and spend many hours of selecting. I will never be able to thank you enough for your overwhelming support but I look forward to present you one or several features in the near future. Thank you for making this possible and my warmest regards! "

VINTAGE AFRICA - &Beyond BATELEUR CAMP

Bateleur Camp at &Beyond Kichwa Tembo is situated in the wildlife-rich Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya. Offering the epitome of tented luxury, the camp’s 18 elegant tented suites evoke the classic safaris of the 20s and 30s.

Each safari tent is serviced by a personal butler and features ensuite bathrooms with twin hand basins, separate w.c and generous shower. Private decks overlook the sweeping Masai Mara plains - a breathtaking view also enjoyed from the grand four-poster bed. Relaxing guest areas are adorned with antique African trinkets.

Although the accommodation at Bateleur Camp is certainly noteworthy, it is the surrounding natural environment that is the reason for guests to travel to this beautiful, remote corner of Kenya. The camp overlooks the massive plains, where lion, elephant and giraffe roam freely.

During the Great Migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra, guests are at times able to witness the passing herds from the comfort of their own tented suite. Though not completely predictable, this annual phenomenon takes place in the Masai Mara from approximately June to October, offering life-changing wildlife encounters.

An incredible array of year-round wildlife, including lion, rhino, elephant, giraffe and hippo, can be viewed up close on game drives each morning and evening led by &Beyond -trained rangers. Interpretive guided bush walks are led by experienced Maasai naturalists. In-room massages for lazy afternoon siestas and early morning hot-air balloon safaris over the Mara are available at additional cost.

Kichwa’s expert chefs and butlers ensure that each wholesome meal is served in a variety of surprising locations - from bush breakfasts and Mara picnics, to dramatic sundowners on the edge of the Great Rift Valley.

&Beyond ’s passionate commitment to Care of the Land, Care of the Wildlife, Care of the People resounds in Bateleur Camp’s extraordinary community initiatives.  Classrooms have been built at three local primary schools; pioneering bee-keeping projects are run at two villages; and the Maasai women of the Illkinye community support themselves through an income generating poultry project.

&Beyond ’s neighbouring Kichwa Tembo Masai Mara Tented Camp has 40 intimate “Hemingway-style” tents which are considerably spacious, as well as a huge infinity pool with breathtaking views - the best place in the Mara to watch the igration whilst cooling off!
