Leopards Galore at &Beyond Ngala Tented Camp

I was lucky enough to visit my beloved Kruger recently and stayed at my favourite &Beyond Lodge in South Africa  - &Beyond Ngala Tented Camp.

Have a look at some of these pictures my friend and I took – they show off a bit about the tracking process on safari and ofcourse some of the spectacular wildlife.

Three ginormous Male Lions chased this delicate female leopard up a tree. Whilst we watched her – we experienced the earth shattering roaring of the three males behind us calling to another pride in the distance, If you have ever experienced this – you will know that if they are close enough your bones rattle…

If they had caught her they may have killed her.

Sunrise – spectacular and VERY cold

Ok – so this was the Most amazing Leopard sighting I have ever seen ( bar my first). And I am seriously blessed to have seen a lot of leopard in my lifetime.

We were stopped having sundowner drinks – basically having given up on seeing Leopard that night. We had been at it all evening and afternoon – our guide and tracker – stellar in their efforts. I had just popped off behind a bush ( as you do on safari) when Richard our tracker – came rushing over to tell us a leopard was calling and heading right for us. The Biggest male in the area waltzed past us seconds later. We were on teh vehicle and watched him walk right through where our table had been. We followed him – he unperturbed agreeably walked down the road ( you can’t believe the bundu bashing/bush whacking we had been doing all day prior to that).  So this was so easy!

Next thing  – we see a female heading towards him on the road as well! She was quite small – a lot smaller than him, And as she approached, the guys identified her as his daughter!

She proceeded to try and get him to play with her – and it was quite comical watching him bat her away – he would have none of it! it was almost like he actually didn’t know how to play with her. Beautiful indeed and such an honour to be there.
