I am not sure if any person alive today has actually seen this waterfall before
My dear friend and colleague Hazel sent this to a whole bunch of us the other day-
“Most of you have probably heard by now that Sossusvlei has water – for the first time in a couple of years. The attached photo was taken in the Naukluft Mountains, part of the catchment area of the rivers which brings water to the dune areas. I used to stop at this exact site where the photo was taken, years ago as a tour guide, and explain to our guests: “… The dry rock formation that you see up there, is called a Tuffa formation – the remains of an extinct waterfall. This is a remnant of a much wetter era in the past…..”
This is really incredible – I am not sure if any person alive today has actually seen this waterfall before…!”
