Heading East – To Greener Pastures
20 August 2010 ~ Masai Mara National Reserve, Kenya
The mega-herd has now moved across to the eastern side of the Masai Mara in search of better grazing conditions, although a number of smaller herds of up to a few thousand wildebeest remain scattered around the Mara Triangle. Other herds still are gathered along the Oloololo escarpment, within close range of &Beyond Kichwa Tembo. Mara River crossings (on a much smaller scale) are still taking place regularly. Recently at Kichwa Tembo, clouds have been forming in the late afternoons, and we hope that there will be some more rain to not only lure the herds back for more grazing, but also to bring new life to the ever-beautiful Mara landscape.
