&Beyond: Karen's Travel Blog

Our Hearts are still in East Africa!

Dear Karen,

Our apologies to you – we wanted to be the first to get back and thank you for a wonderful itinerary, the exceptional guides, and some very special experiences that we are sure you helped play a role. Unfortunately as soon as we landed in the States we have been inundated with work (including domestic and international travel – Allan had to go on to Brazil!)  – but our hearts are still in E.Africa and we continue to dream about the adventures!
I have detailed notes that I want share with you first, including some special &Beyond people who made our trip so memorable. I plan to summarize them this week, but in brief wanted to extend our warmest appreciation not only to you, but also Cyst, Protus Meme, Malley, and Edwin (Kamua-nick name ‘Kaman’) who all deserve our heart-filled thanks for sharing their fascinating stories and knowledge. There were many others who extended themselves to us, but among those who really stood out include Frances and his staff at LDL and Joseph Masibo and his staff at Bateleur – these teams worked very hard, were ever present, and went out of their way on our behalf. I also wanted to let you know that among our most memorable camps was Under Canvas – we loved the whole experience of this camp – the setting is definitely the most romantic. We wished we had one more night there, and would have enjoyed experiencing another day in the Serengeti with Cyst.

With warmest appreciation,
Ina
