News straight from the Serengeti ~ Southern Serengeti Tanzania
The Mega Herds have moved some 30Km’s from Lake Ndutu towards the Matiti hills, the Calving is now under way and our guests at Serengeti Under Canvas are witnessing this overwhelming event. The rains have stopped slightly over the last two weeks though looking at the prevailing cloudy weather and the raise in temperature it’s a sign that it will be raining over the next week or two. The remaining herds are grazing Ndutu Plains as there is plenty of water around which will have them stationed there for long. Other’s have taken the way towards the South west enjoying the lush green grazing close to Ngorongoro forest, once we have some rains they will all gather around Lake Ndutu again for the young ones to feed on the rick alkaline grass to gain strength, preparing themselves for the long Journey north.
